Overview:

I know you’ll be nodding your head when I say:

Vacations in Orlando can be busy and stressful when visiting theme parks:

But do they have to be?

After having a long day at the theme park capital of the world, find some time to relax.

You may just want to get away for some peace and tranquility to enjoy your vacation with pure relaxation at a beach.

Well, luckily there are some beaches close to Orlando that will provide you with a mini vacation of pure paradise.

There are many beaches in Orlando, that will give you “me” time with your family or friends.

Beaches in Orlando?

First off, there are no beaches directly inside Orlando, Florida, but you can definitely find Cocoa Beach to be one of the nearest beaches from Orlando.

There are plenty of other beaches near Orlando Florida, but my recommendation if you want to travel close and enjoy some relaxation is Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Maybe you saw billboard signs of Cocoa Beach as you were driving and then wonder: Where is Cocoa Beach’s location?

I know when I first came to Florida I had the exact same question in my head.

Where is Cocoa Beach Located?

Cocoa Beach is located on the east coast of Orlando Florida, thus embodying the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the closest beaches to Orlando Florida.

Distance wise it would take approximately 60 miles and about an hour to drive from Orlando to Cocoa Beach.

The beach drive from Cocoa Beach is not too long and it is a direct route using the toll road.

Again, it all depends on how long it takes to get there and whether you are taking toll roads or not. Traffic can also account for how long it takes to arrive. Traffic can become a lot heavier around 9am to 5pm.

All these different factors can play a role in the time and distance it would take to get there.

If you plan on taking toll roads, I recommend getting a Sunpass.

It surely is one of the smartest purchases to make when driving on toll roads as it will make your trip more convenient.

These can easily be purchased at grocery stores such as Publix or Walmart.

Why does this matter?

First off, this is Florida, and toll roads are more common here.

Especially in the big cities such as Orlando and Miami.

People who aren’t aware of this may fall into the trap of not knowing they are on a toll road and may await a toll fee.

I know I did several times even though I used google maps a number of times to prevent this from happening.

But overall…

Even though its location is not on the gulf side of Florida, it is still a very beautiful and nice place to visit just to get away and escape the noise of the most touristic places in Orlando, Florida

You may be asking yourself when is the best time to go to Cocoa Beach?

Having traveled to Cocoa Beach on a number of different occasions, I finally know what to expect from a Florida beach.

Cocoa beach, like most Florida beaches, does tend to get very hot and scorching in the summer. Also temperatures may fluctuate throughout the year in Florida.

Average temperatures can range in the upper 90’s with high humidity levels in the summer.

February, March, and May are my favorite times to go since the water is warm and the weather is hot.

In the summer the sand can burn your feet but the water is warm, so as long as you’re prepared then you won’t have a problem going.

Temperatures usually drop in November, December, even January.

Beaches are less crowded now that children are back to school.

The Best Part?

The nicest things I have noticed of most Floridian Beaches is the umbrella and chair rental system.

If you find yourself needing an umbrella or chair, then no problem!

You can rent beach chairs and umbrellas on the beach without actually having to worry about packing the car before you leave. This is very convenient.

Though you do have to bring the usual hats, sunscreen, sunglasses, and beach towels yourself. It’s important to not forget these.

Floridian Weather is different.

I am sure you have heard that the Floridian Weather changes constantly. And yes it is Florida.

So don’t be surprised if all of the sudden it pours and the next couple minutes the sun is shining bright.

This happened to me the other day when I woke up early to catch the sunrise on Cocoa Beach and suddenly the rain started pouring.

The best time of day to go is first thing in the morning.

It is best to go before the tourist and local residents. This way you don’t have worry about finding parking or where to go.

That’s not all…

There are also many different types of tourist attractions you can also see and do if you want.

These include visiting places like the Kennedy Space Center to watch the rockets take off.

There are a number of launches that take off throughout the year, but it’s always great to see one of Elon Musk’s rocket launch into space.

If you do have enough time to tour the downtown of Cocoa Beach then do it!

Plus the Kennedy Space Center is not too far of a distance, and if you are lucky you’ll catch a rocket take off.

The Kennedy Space Center is very good about updating when the next rocket launch happens.

Do you plan on visiting Cocoa Beach in May?

If you do happen to find yourself here in May, one of the best things to check out is the Annual Beach Festival.

Usually located in the Downtown of Cocoa Beach it occurs around mid May where you can find anything from live music to food vendors and even family fun activities.

Cocoa Beach I would say is one of the best Orlando beaches in Florida that you can find nearby to enjoy some time off.

Even though, it is not found on the gulf side of Florida, you can still enjoy some fun in the sun.

I recommend you to grab an ice cream and relax at a beach.

If you are in Orlando or any other surrounding areas, then check out the sands of Cocoa Beach for a nice get away.
