We’re Jess and Jeanette, two sisters born and raised in San Diego, California, along with our adventure buddy Tutú, an energetic Shih Tzu who joined our family in January 2024.

After 10+ years exploring San Diego’s beaches, hiking trails, and outdoor attractions, we know these places better than anyone.

We’ve returned to some locations 20, 30, even 50+ times – discovering seasonal patterns, crowd changes, and insider tips that you can only learn by living here and testing constantly.

Jess is Tutú’s favorite human, adventure guide, and photographer.

Since our mom brought Tutú home from Tijuana, Mexico in January 2024, Jess has been his main caretaker and developed a deep bond with him.

Tutú has become a new love in Jess’s life, providing comfort and joy.

Their special connection shapes how she explores San Diego’s outdoor spaces and guides our adventures together.

Jess’s daily care and attentiveness help her understand what dogs need to feel safe and happy in new outdoor places—from spotting anxious moments to finding pup-approved spots.

Jeanette is the visual storyteller and Tutú’s dedicated trainer.

She keeps both her sister Jess and Tutú active with daily walks and has trained Tutú in essential commands like sit, shake, and roll over.

Her passion for hiking and paddleboarding fuels outdoor adventures that balance fun and Tutú’s energy needs.

Jeanette’s expertise in dog-friendly outdoor activities ensures the best spots for pups, from cooling stream crossings on hiking trails to dog-welcoming paddleboarding sites.

Meet Tutú – Our Four-Legged Adventure Guide

In January 2024, Tutú came into our lives when our mom brought him from Tijuana, Mexico.

Tutú quickly became our outdoor adventure buddy and inspired our dog-friendly testing.

As our unofficial quality tester, Tutú has helped us evaluate the best dog-friendly outdoor spots—from Dog Beach to Coronado (see our Coronado Dog Beach Guide) and Del Mar, hiking trails like Lake Miramar and Lake Murray, and outdoor attractions like harbor villages and pumpkin patches.
