Throughout the year, Topanga State Beach hosts several events and festivals that attract visitors from near and far.

For example, Heal the Bay is a nonprofit organization that hosts yearly beach cleanups in the Los Angeles area.

In addition, for those visiting during Memorial Day Weekend in the U.S. (which is usually the last Monday of May) the Topanga Days County Fair takes place near this beach.

For three days this festival features live music, a parade, and food.

If you’re coming from the Los Angeles area, Topanga State Beach is located to the north of Los Angeles, but it’s not too far away.

The distance between Los Angeles and Topanga State Beach is approximately around 30 miles.

So it’s not that far!

It is worth mentioning that there are other beaches found closer to the Los Angeles area such as Santa Monica State Beach.

Nevertheless, expect Santa Monica State Beach to be a well-known tourist destination with lots of people!

So, if you’re looking for a more relaxed tranquil destination you can’t go wrong with checking out this place.

To reach Topanga State Beach from Los Angeles, you have several transportation options:

Topanga State Beach Parking and Nearby Hotels

If those are traveling with a car expect to pay at the Topanga State Beach parking lot.

The parking lot is right in front of the beach.

You will need to take a few stairs down to get to the beach, but this is nothing compared to some beaches in San Diego such as Stonesteps Beach or Swami’s Beach which has over 100 steps to get down into!

When my sister and I visited the parking lot costs were as follows:

Be sure to check the park’s official website or contact them in advance to confirm the current admission fees and any potential parking charges.

Note: For those people with disabilities know that you can park here for free at this lot with the exception of holidays.

It’s also advisable to arrive early to secure a spot, especially during peak seasons.

For those looking to stay here, I personally recommend your best option would be just visiting this place as a day trip and staying somewhere else.

You can pretty much explore this whole beach in a day unless you want to explore Topanga Canyon State Park as well.

This state park offers camping and you can spend all day exploring many of its unique hiking trails.

If you don’t care about seeing the state park know that Topanga Ranch Motel is the only place located across this beach but is currently closed as of 2023.

Your best option for accommodation is staying near the Los Angeles area.
